Benedictine Spirituality & Contemplative Prayer:
A Timeless Connection

Led by Br. Bernard Delcourt, OHC

Saturday, June 21

9 a.m.-12 p.m. (EDT)

Zoom

Join Br. Bernard Delcourt, OHC, to explore the roots of Centering Prayer in Benedictine wisdom. Benedictine spirituality cultivates a constant awareness of the Divine in daily life through a continuous dialogue of prayer with God. Centering Prayer opens oneself to God beyond thoughts and words, moving beyond conversations about God to direct communion with the Divine. Connecting the two enhances our prayer life.

The retreat will include two Centering Prayer sessions of twenty minutes each and ample time for discussion and Q&A.

Br. Bernard is an Anglican Benedictine monk at Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, New York. He has been a monk for more than 20 years. He is currently the director of the approximately 550 Associates in the program. He is also a spiritual director, with a focus on seminarians. He is an accredited formator for Centering Prayer.

Br. Bernard is a dual citizen of his native Belgium and his adoptive country, the United States. He loves geopolitics, ecology, learning languages and reading essays in theology and spirituality (with a smattering of science fiction and crime mysteries). Before settling into Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina as his main modes of personal prayer, he practiced Vipassana meditation for several years.
